Pia Gazarek-Offermann

Already at the age of four Pia Gazarek- Offermann began to play the violin; at the age of eight she started to play the guitar. She attended a prestigious East German Special School of Music and became a member of the famous Radio Youth Choir as well as its Chamber Choir Wernigerode.

Apart from graduating from the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar (both Class Prof. Thomas Offermann) in Classical guitar, she also was member of the Vocal Consort Weimar, which had won important international prizes.

Her teachers in Master classes were Roberto Aussel, Alberto Ponce, David Russell, Duo Sonare, Hopkinson Smith, Benjamin Verdery and many others.

Pia was prize-winner at the International Competition for Classical Guitar in Krakow 1994 (Poland). She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts and at International Guitar Festivals throughout Canada, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Nepal, Poland, Portugal, Thailand and USA. CD- productions, international Radio and TV programmes. She teaches in Berlin and appeared as a Jury member of several International Guitar Competitions such as Bangkok, Vienna, Kutna Hora.
